Slagmaur - Thill Smitts Terror
Norsk English

Med Till Smiths Terror fullføres omsider Slagmaurs andre trilogi, “The Art Of Olderman”.

Are you ready for another round of uncomfortable and suffocating discomfort, burdened under countless layers of inhospitable sonic hostility?
With two years between Skrekk Lich Kunstler (2007) and Von Rov Shelter (2009), Thill Smitts Terror is a long-awaited piece of music that truly has been long in coming. After 7 years and 4 months, the ripe time is nigh.
The inherit uncouth misapprehended holier–than–thou spirit of ill-bred farmers, the scourge of villages, was the inspiration General Gribbsphiiser, Aatselgribb and their faithful companions could find in the rural, barren and windswept landscape of Fosen, a peninsula of the cost of Nidrosian Trondheim. So close, but so far from proper civilization. Their fanatical creativity led to the trilogy “Protocol of Fosen” consisting of the demos Svin, Skrekk and Domfeldt, released in 2006 and 2007.

With Till Smith Terror, Slagmaur finally complete their second trilogy, “The Art Of Olderman”. A majority of the songs have been available on SoundCloud, but Slagmaur is surrounded by a sphere of mystery, and a bubble of time that mere mortals are unable to fathom.
As of this writing, it is still unclear when the bastard sons of vile villagers will attack, but beware.

I was getting ready to offer a description of the three songs presented below, but at the moment these are not available, and I don't even know which songs we're talking about, so you'll have to do without my guidance this time around. Entirely on your own, “every man for himself” seems to be the mantra as we enter the most dystopic of spheres in a cold, cynical and cruel world.
If we survive, and meet again, I'll make sure to tell you the rest of the story. All in due time...

Below the streaming lava of malicious tones from one of Norway's most exciting and innovative suppliers of eerie, morbid black metal, comes a flow of English words written by other entities. Entities, whose names are not recorded in the protocol.

“Thill Smitts Terror”, the new full-length album from Norway's SLAGMAUR, is expected to hit the streets very shortly on Osmose Productions. The complex nature of SLAGMAUR's artwork, carefully created and supervised by the band's founder General Gribbsphiiser, is currently being finalised, and given his exacting demands, as soon as it's finished (and that will be very soon) a date will be announced. In the meantime, the band have agreed to debut three tracks from the album ahead of their second Inferno Festival appearance in Norway in April and their first ever appearance in the USA in February at the Stardust VI Festival in Brooklyn.

“Thill Smitts Terror” will continue where “Von Rov Shelter”, the band's critically acclaimed 2009 album, left off, delving more and more deeply into the disturbing world that SLAGMAUR conjures up by combining modern and classical instruments with children’s nursery rhymes and fairy tales. It is a world where classically constructed melodies blend seamlessly with aggressive black metal to create a nightmare scenario straight from the pit of hell. Art, as well as music, is an integral part of the whole that is SLAGMAUR - from the sinister masks and costumes the band wears on stage, to the disturbing images used in the artwork for the albums.

Mysterious and secretive, SLAGMAUR was formed in the remote reaches of North Western Norway, in 2006. The band have never revealed their true identities and always appear heavily disguised, often as characters from their own songs. Nor have they ever revealed how they create the sinister music that invades the listeners mind with layer upon layer of sound that reveals a different facet each time you hear it, depending on your current state of mind.

More information about SLAGMAUR can be found on the band's Facebook page and on Bandcamp.
“Thill Smitts Terror” will soon be released by Osmose Productions.
